Cape Cod Tech has a teaching opening in its Health Assisting program. Candidates should possess strong content knowledge as well as a desire to teach and work with young adults. The program emphasizes preparing students for careers in the health field and obtaining the CNA certification, among other credentials. Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Chapter 74 teaching license in Health Assisting and teaching experience preferred.
Prerequisite requirements include a Bachelor's degree or higher related to the subject matter and skills taught, a minimum of three years of full-time employment experience directly related to health assisting, and possession of current Massachusetts license as a registered nurse (RN).
Although candidates with a Chapter 74 teaching license are preferred, non-licensed applicants may be eligible for a one-year waiver to complete preliminary teaching requirements provided they can pass CORI and fingerprinting background checks and have the necessary professional background. Preliminary requirements include passing the written and performance tests in health assisting as well as the Vocational Technical Literacy Skills Test and Communication and Literacy Skills Test.
