Job Description
EDUCATION/ACADEMIC PROGRAM COORDINATOR, MIT Environmental Solutions Initiative (ESI), to report to the education program director and coordinate the main student-facing components of ESI’s Education Program, which include the Environmental and Sustainability (E+S) Minor (https://environmentalsolutions.mit.edu/environment-sustainability-minor/) , the Martin Family Society of Fellows for Sustainability (https://martin-fellows.mit.edu/) , and MIT education focused events. Will serve as ESI’s point person for student engagement, including frequently organizing and attending on-campus events, building relationships, and having a general presence on campus; promote the E+S minor, collaborate with relevant faculty, manage the course list, meet and advise with students, and maintain relationships across climate and sustainability DLCs (departments, labs, and centers); and promote the Martin Fellows program, coordinate the faculty selection committee, and develop and run community building programming for the fellows. Other key responsibilities will include providing assistance and support with ongoing grants, teaching/curriculum (e.g., in-person (https://registrar.mit.edu/faculty-curriculum-support/education-initiatives-funding/funded-projects/science-technology-and) or online courses and maintenance of curriculum such as the Climate Justice Instructional Toolkit (https://environmentalsolutions.mit.edu/climate-justice-instructional-toolkit/) ), and data management and analysis on research projects (https://news.mit.edu/2023/mit-researchers-develop-test-innovative-ideas-improve-education-0906) . Job RequirementsREQUIRED: bachelor's degree; at least one year of relevant student engagement and academic/educational program management experience; knowledge of general educational practices or of more specific environmental, sustainability, and environmental justice education content area knowledge; and strong writing skills. PREFERRED: master's degree, experience in higher education, research experience, and MIT experience. Job #24312-6 Must be able to work in the office two to three days per week.
