Find your future with us.Boeing is seeking a Cascade Modeling Engineer to join our team in Cambridge, MA.Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including experienced or senior level engineers.As a modeling engineer in Sustainability & Future Mobility, you'll help us dream of and develop new models and datasets for the Boeing Cascade Climate Impact Model ( https://cascade.boeing.com/ ). By joining this cross-functional team of engineers, software developers, designers, and analysts, you'll do important work to help the aviation industry find viable pathways to net-zero carbon emissions.Position Responsibilities:

Develop requirements for new Cascade models, which could include technical and economic aspects of sustainable aviation fuels or other alternative fuels, aircraft technology, operational efficiency, and carbon removals.

Develop Cascade models and datasets to enable new features and functionality.

Support validation and technical reviews for Cascade models, data, and documentation. This may include peer review by academic and industry partners as well as

Produce high-quality technical documentation suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Support execution of the Cascade engagement strategy, including training internal and external partners on how to use Cascade.

Partner with researchers in academia, industry, and government agencies to integrate new models and datasets into Cascade.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Cambridge, MA site.Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

Experience programming languages such as Python, Java, C, C, and MATLAB

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience with systems modeling, which could include energy systems, thermodynamic models, life cycle assessment, system dynamics,etc.

Academic or work experience focused on sustainable aviation or decarbonizing transportation or heavy industry

Experience with alternative fuels for transportation such as sustainable aviation fuels, hydrogen, or renewable electricity

Experience with data visualization and communication

Experience developing modeling and simulation tools as part of a team, including source control software (e.g. git)

Experience working with geographically distributed teams.

Typical Education/Experience:Experienced (Level 3):Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Senior (Level 4):Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
