Breakthrough Innovation Lead, Senior Director

We are seeking an entrepreneurial and driven person to lead a Breakthrough Innovation Team (BRITE) for Philips Research. This individual will be at the forefront of developing and launching industry-shifting value propositions in medtech and securing the future of Philips’ competitiveness. The BRITE Lead will build out an agile team to move with speed towards achieving project milestones.Your role:

You lead the start up of programs developing industry-shifting value propositions that delight current and future customers and propel Philips forward as a transformative health-tech company.

Forming and managing a cross functional team of entrepreneurial innovators to deliver end-to-end value propositions, while utilizing and developing the larger Philips business framework to gain a competitive advantage.

Day-to-Day management of the BRITE program and team. This includes selecting, supervising, developing, and evaluating team members to ensure the efficient operation of the BRITE projects as well as team and individual performance development.

Working with the Head of Research and the BRITE team to drive progress, overcome operational obstacles, and regularly report on status.

Interacting with multiple stakeholders across Philips and specifically the sponsoring business and senior I&S leadership to define and evolve strategies and execution priorities.

Working with and as part of the Research Leadership team to further evolve and fine-tune the new Research set-up and way of working for maximum impact.

This role in addition to directly reporting to the Head of Research is also a dotted line to the BU Leader and has visibility across the company.

You're the right fit if:

You’ve acquired a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience and at least 5+ years as a senior people leader with a demonstrated track record setting up and leading high performing teams that delivered breakthrough innovations.

An advanced degree in Business, Science, Engineering, or a related field is required, an additional MBA level business education or equivalent is preferred.

Expertise in developing and maintaining relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders (with Corporate Functions as well as with Business Units) at all seniority levels (up to ExCo) and bringing a product from innovation to the market successfully.

Background in medical robotics or medical technology is an advantage.

Strong team and people management skills combined with a results-driven attitude to raise the bar continuously and thrive throughout turbulent environments.

Customer centricity: Ability to understand and put (future) customer needs and customer experiences at the forefront of all activities, in line with Philips's business objectives.

Recognition as one with an entrepreneurial mindset: being adaptive, curious, coachable, and a high achiever – with the ability and desire to quickly learn, unlearn and relearn in a continuous improvement way.
