Job Description

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, EXTERNAL RELATIONS, Media Lab, to help manage the flow of visitors, meetings, and tours in an office dedicated to developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing members. Will interact with high-level representatives from prominent companies, visitors from government and foundations, and alumni of MIT and the Media Lab; help arrange and coordinate meetings and workshops at the lab; and assist faculty, staff, and students with everything from small events (e.g., workshops, hackathons, brainstorming sessions, etc.) to events for members and prospects. Job RequirementsREQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years’ administrative, office, or related experience; client-focus interpersonal skills; comfort presenting and speaking with groups (5-20 people); willingness to develop an understanding of the lab’s research and the ability to relay basic understanding to others; excellent prooing skills; meticulous attention to detail; strong technical skills and ability to learn new software; effective verbal and written communication and listening skills; ability to identify a need without direction and support accordingly and to adapt to varying circumstances; comfort working in a highly diverse and international environment and ability to build productive working relationships with a wide range of people. PREFERRED: bachelor's degree; familiarity with MIT business apps (e.g., Concur, Buy2Pay), Google Workspace, Dropbox, Slack, and Airtable; excellent collaboration skills and ability to contribute as part of a team; tact and good judgment with confidential information; experience working independently and taking initiative; and fluency in a second language.
