Vertica is seeking aSoftware Reliability Engineerto expand the VAAS (Vertica as a Service) capabilities of its analytic database engine. It is an exciting time to join the team. Your role willbe:- Responding to service outagesand part of anon-call rotation.
- Conduct incidentresponseandpostmortems.
- Building software to help operations, monitoring service uptime.
- Monitoring availability, latency and overall system health.
- Designing and documenting service recovery playbooks, considering different outage scenarios.
- Contribute to the software lifecycle from design, deployment operations and refinement.
- Supportcustomersas they go live.
- BS in Computer Science or related technicalfield (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience
- Bash, Linux, Python(Comfortable withLinux command line)
- Excellent communication, ability to describe a problem in a technical manner
- Experience managing hosted applications
- At least four years of experience with python or a similar scripting language
- Experience integrating software
- Basic Network experience, load balancers , DNS
- Basic understanding of distributed systems
- Understandingof REST API's and how to interact with them
