We are a small remodeling company based out of Westford looking to hire an experienced apprentice carpenter/entry level journeyman. We pride ourselves on the quality and not the quantity of the projects we work on. We are not just carpenters but craftsmen and always give the client the highest quality of work we can. The candidate should like being a carpenter and working on the items listed below and not just showing up for work every day for a paycheck. Also, candidates that are not used to precise work and quality should not apply.
We are looking for the following in a candidate:
Two (2) or more years of professional remodeling/new construction experience preferred – we would be open to discussing the position with a candidate that has vocational and/or technical experience along with some amount of field work.
Must be reliable, punctual and clean cut
Must be a team player (you will need to help set up the equipment in the morning and clean up at the end of the day)
Must have a good work history
Must have references upon request
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Smoking is not permitted while working on the job-site
Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds or more
Must be comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights
Must be able to read a tape measure
Must have working knowledge of a variety of building material.
Job responsibilities:
Assist carpenters with various tasks as well as completing individual projects.
Pick up supplies at local lumber yards and hardware stores as well as other suppliers.
Tools and Equipment:
Must have working knowledge and are able to cut without any difficulty using table saws and compound sliding mitre saws. We currently use a DeWalt Table Saw (DWE7491X) and DeWalt Compound Sliding Mitre Saw (DWS780). Please do not apply if you do not know how to use a table saw or compound sliding mitre saw.
Must have your own “professional” style tool belt with basic hand tools including metal speed square (not plastic), chalk line (blue color chalk), sixteen-ounce (16 oz) hammer (not a framing hammer) and a nail set with two different size points. We will supply a tape measure.
Projects and Locations:
The projects we work on are frame to finish and include the following: Kitchens, Bathrooms, Decks, Built-Ins, Additions, Rot Repair, Interior/Exterior Trim, Siding, Door and Windows as well as a variety of other remodeling/new construction projects.
We work along Route 2, Route 128 and Route 495. Some of our upcoming projects are located in Wakefield, Newton, Concord, Westford and Tyngsboro. Before applying we recommend that you Google the distance between these towns and where you live so you know how far you will be traveling each way/every day.
Salary and Benefits:
Pay rate is between $18.00 - $28.00/hr and is based on experience, skill and quality (with emphasis on quality).
The benefits listed below are the only ones we offer at this time and would be available after three (3) months (we currently do not offer health care).
One week paid vacation (based on accrued time)
Six Paid Holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas
