Part Time Life Coach - Youth and Young Adult Supported Living

Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Life Coach to join our team. The Life Coach will serve as a mentor and advocate for youth within our Continuum, providing invaluable support and guidance based on their own lived experiences within the mental health or child welfare system. This role requires cultural and linguistic alignment with the youth and families we serve to ensure effective communication and understanding.

Position Details: This is a part-time position, 25 hours per week, with evening shifts. The Life Coach will work closely with youth and families, offering outreach, support, and advocacy services. This includes transitional care, aftercare outreach, and facilitating resident self-determination and decision-making.

Essential Functions:

Conduct outreach and engagement activities, including transitional and aftercare support.

Utilize personal vehicle for outreach when necessary.

Maintain detailed meeting notes with residents.

Work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.

Provide phone availability to young adults in the program.

Attend staff meetings and serve as a liaison between youth and staff.

Assist in staff hiring processes.

Represent youth on organizational committees.

Support youth transitions to/from home and link them to community programs.

Teach practical life skills such as public transportation use.

Facilitate youth leadership groups and offer one-to-one and group support.

Attend various meetings as an advocate/support.

Accompany youth to appointments as needed.

Collaborate effectively with both program participants and staff.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies:

Experience: Must have lived experience within the Massachusetts Child Welfare System.

Openness: Willingness to share personal lived experiences and positively influence others.

Leadership: Display positive leadership qualities and stability in personal recovery.

Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing professional development, particularly in Trauma-Informed Care and Collaborative Proactive Solutions/Behavior Management.

Multicultural Awareness: Must actively participate in multicultural awareness, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Empathy: Ability to empathize with the experiences of youth and families.

Education: Previous volunteer or work experience in relevant fields is preferred.

Vision: Demonstrated life goals and a personal vision for growth and development.
