Full Time Direct Care Staff – Youth and Young Adult Group Residence

Position Overview: As a Direct Care employee at Centerboard’s Youth Service Campus Programs, you play a crucial role in the treatment team, fostering a trauma-informed environment for residents. You will actively engage in supporting the daily lives of clients, addressing their behavioral and emotional needs while promoting healthier coping mechanisms. This position involves providing supervised support, maintaining facility cleanliness, and documenting interactions to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain detailed logs and documentation of shift activities, including progress notes, incident reports, and communication logs.

Ensure thorough documentation of all incidents and crisis situations, adhering to program requirements and protocols.

Utilize Centerboard’s On-Call system for reporting incidents and seeking necessary support.

2. Youth Support and Advocacy:

Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, colleagues, and stakeholders in a residential setting.

Implement Individual Behavior Support Plans (IBSPs) and Treatment Plan goals, providing advocacy and support in various meetings.

Coordinate and assist residents in daily activities, including transportation, medical appointments, and educational endeavors.

3. Safety and Facility Management:

Ensure the safety and security of residents and the facility, following established protocols in the absence of supervisors.

Conduct room searches, fire drills, and drug tests according to schedule, documenting findings and following proper procedures.

Oversee facility cleanliness and orderliness, including meal preparation and maintenance of living areas.

4. Training and Compliance:

Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the position.

Adhere to Medication Administration Program (MAP) requirements for administering and documenting resident medications.

Ensure compliance with Centerboard policies and regulations in all aspects of the role.

5. Overnight Shift Responsibilities:

Conduct regular checks on residents throughout the night, ensuring building security and adhering to specific program requirements.

Perform facility cleaning tasks and provide morning transportation for youth as needed.

Remain awake and alert during the entire shift, maintaining a vigilant presence to ensure resident safety.

Additional Duties:

Facilitate group and one-on-one support sessions to prepare youth for adulthood.

Communicate effectively with program nurses and medical coordinators regarding resident health needs.

Accompany residents to appointments and supervise field trips as scheduled.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in human services preferred.

Prior experience working with youth in a residential or similar setting is advantageous.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse individuals.

Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and crisis intervention techniques.

Flexibility to work overnight shifts and weekends as required.
