Essex Engineering is seeking a Skilled Manual Machinist. Essex Engineering is a busy Prototype Machine Shop serving the aircraft engine industry.
This is a Full and/or Part Time position
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Operating Machine Tools:
Machinists operate a range of machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders, to cut, shape, and fabricate metal and other materials.
Reading Blueprints:
They must be able to read and interpret detailed blueprints, sketches, and other technical drawings to understand the specifications for the parts they are producing.
Setting up and Maintaining Machines:
Machinists set up and maintain machine tools, ensuring they are properly calibrated and functioning correctly.
Quality Control:
They inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy, using measuring tools to verify that they meet specifications.
Following Instructions:
Machinists must be able to follow instructions and adhere to safety procedures.
Technical Skills:
Machinists need a strong understanding of mathematics, engineering principles, and machine operation.
Precision and Accuracy:
Due to the nature of the work, machinists must have a keen eye for detail and excellent hand-eye coordination.
Safety Awareness:
Machinists must be aware of safety procedures and be able to operate machinery safely.
