Todder / Monomoy is a leather goods workshop located in Newburyport's Industrial Park, just 1/4 mile from the commuter rail. We handcraft high-quality leather goods for our own brand and other larger brands. Our products include leather patch hats, belts, wallets, bags, keychains, bracelets, canvas goods, and more.

In addition to our workshop, we have launched Monomoy (www.monomoy.com). At Monomoy, we specialize in producing custom leather patch hats with no minimum order requirements, offering bulk discounts for individuals, businesses, and events. We are excited to welcome a creative and dedicated graphic designer to join our talented team of makers!

In this role, you will be responsible for digitizing customer logos and designs, converting them into laser-ready files, and operating the laser machine to ensure accurate etching on leather. During downtime, you'll have the opportunity to showcase your creativity by collaborating with other teams on designing website assets, marketing materials, social media content, and contributing to product development.

We are a small team, and the leather patch is the foundation of our business. We look forward to meeting the person who is going to take on this responsibility!

Key Responsibilities:

-Work with customer-provided logos, assessing the quality and redesigning when necessary to ensure compatibility with leather patch production.

-Utilize Adobe Illustrator to refine and recreate logos, ensuring they meet the standards for laser etching.

-Convert logo files into formats compatible with Boss Laser and Lightroom for production.

-Evaluate designs for optimal transferability to leather, making adjustments to enhance visual quality.

-Communicate directly with customers to confirm design approvals prior to production.

-Operate laser machinery to cut leather patches and perform quality control checks.

-Assist with customer quotes, mockups, and handle customer inquiries via phone or email.

-Contribute to the design of patches for the company’s website and support in the creation of general marketing materials.

Qualifications/Skills:

-Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is required.

-Strong understanding of design principles and how they apply to different materials, particularly leather.

-Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate directly with customers and ensure design satisfaction.

-Attention to detail and quality control in both design and production stages.

-Ability to manage multiple customer projects and deadlines.

-Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

-Proven experience as a Graphic Designer or in a related role.

-Strong portfolio showcasing design skills across various media

Preferred but Not Required:

-Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field

-Knowledge of marketing design principles

-Photography and videography

-Experience with laser etching equipment

-Digitization of logos for embroidery

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
