I am seeking a Khmer speaking legal assistant to work in a busy general practice law firm in Lowell. The person would work primarily in the automobile accident/personal injury, tax and immigration areas of our practice, but there would be occasions/opportunities to work (or at least translate) in the bankruptcy, wills, trusts and estates and other arears of the practice. Person should be self-motivated, anxious to learn and dedicated to client service. No experience is required. I prefer doing my own training. While a portion of the job will be dictated by the needs of my Khmer speaking clients, part of the job will be determined the applicants own aptitudes and interests. I have plenty of staff and plenty of work for them. Matching people and assignments is part of the fun for me.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will vary with the talents and interests of the applicant. The one non-negotiable is that the applicant will be a translator and point of contact for our Khmer speaking clients. Initially, there will be receptionist, data entry and electronic filing duties. Ideally, the applicant will learn how to run cases in some of our practice areas from start to finish.
Qualifications
The primary qualifications involve the ability to speak Khmer. In addition, some basic computer/keyboarding skills are needed as this is an office job. Finally, the person needs to be anxious to learn and dedicated to serving our clients. Every position in my office involves a great deal of client contact, so a dedication to client service is a must. As I have a busy and varied practice, there is plenty of opportunity to learn new and interesting things by anyone motivated to do so.
