Our five-year strategic plan outlines the Museum’s core values, goals, and initiatives that serve as a renewal of Isabella’s promise for the Museum to be a place for “the education and enjoyment of the public forever.”Position SummaryThe Housekeeping Assistant is responsible for a variety of duties involving the daily maintenance and cleaning of the Museum under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor. The Housekeeping Assistant is responsible for the proper and efficient cleaning of all public areas in the Museum, and all office spaces, meeting spaces, and break rooms, ensuring the highest level of cleanliness.Essential Functions and Primary ResponsibilitiesClean offices, bathrooms, windows, floors and stairways, and other public and private areas of the Museum.Trash and snow removal.Assist with facilities set up and take-down for special events.Move furniture and objects as required and directed.Uphold the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and conduct.Performs other duties as assigned.RequiredExcellent customer service skills.Ability to work in a collaborative manner with team members.Effective communication and collaboration with co-workers and supervisors are essential for smooth Museum and departmental operations.Ability to use judgment in interpreting and following both written and verbal instructions on assigned jobs.Must be reliable and able to work scheduled shifts/hours consistently.Self-motivated and able to complete tasks as assigned.Occasional overtime and special event work is required.Commitment to advancing the ISGM’s strategic initiatives.Legal authorization to work in the United States.Satisfactory criminal background check.Physical RequirementsAbility to operate and move cleaning equipment.Ability to move furniture and equipment.Ability to operate and communicate clearly via a handheld two-way radio (“walkie talkie”).Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.Ability to push a minimum of 50 pounds.Ability to lift, bend, reach, and stand for extended periods.Ability to climb ladders.DesirableMuseum and/or non-profit experience.Equal Opportunity EmployerThe Museum is committed to affording equal opportunity to qualified individuals regardless of race, color, religion, age (40 or older), disability, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, genetic information, pregnancy, childbirth or related conditions, ancestry, or status as a veteran.
