Position Title: Waste Technician
Reports to: Senior Waste Technician
Job Summary:
The Waste Technician is responsible for assisting in the removal of fume hoods, ductwork, casework, flooring, and debris. This role also involves helping with the packaging and shipment of radioactive waste. All tasks are performed in adherence to safety standards and regulations, ensuring compliance with site operations and safety protocols.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Work in demolition, construction, and excavation environments following detailed work procedures. This may include using tools like jackhammers, concrete scarifiers, concrete drills, and hand tools to remove materials from concrete floors, ladders, or scaffolding.
- Assist the Senior Waste Technician with daily project tasks and provide valuable feedback during safety meetings.
- Report any unsafe working conditions to the Supervisor to ensure a safe work environment.
- Perform heavy manual labor, including digging, bending, and crouching for extended periods.
- Follow all relevant State, NRC, OSHA, and EPA regulations when performing duties in hazardous environments.
- Safely apply abatement compounds to surfaces to control removable contamination.
- Operate machines and equipment to remove, package, store, and transport waste materials within client sites.
- Collaborate with the Senior Waste Technician to solve problems and improve project efficiency.
