Job Description:
Provide customers with a landscape that is attractive while playing a major role in the fertilizing process of high-quality landscapes.
Learn and execute proper landscaping techniques and utilize equipment, power tools, small machinery, and hand tools to carry out full-service installations and proper handling of all materials.
Execute strong attention to detail and personal integrity including working with a team or independently.
Each BIB member has great attendance and a strong work ethic.
There is a distinguished willingness to learn proper techniques on the correct and safe operation of all hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
Routinely load/unload equipment on trailers and safely transport equipment and materials to job sites. Individuals must be physically capable of properly lifting heavy materials on a regular basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Caring for established lawns by applying fertilizers throughout the landscaping season.
· Provide knowledge in turf maintenance to create and maintain lush green lawns.
· Enhancing clients’ properties by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, trimming, or edging around flower beds, walks, and walls.
· Prune or trim trees, shrubs, and hedges, using shears, pruners or chain saw.
· Maintaining or repairing tools, equipment, or structures, such as buildings, greenhouses, fences, and benches, using hand or power tools.
· Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, burial sites, and other ground features.
· Fertilizing and maintaining professional landscapes at residential and commercial properties.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Ability to operate vehicles and powered equipment, such as fertilizer applicators, mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters and pruning saws.
· Previous fertilization or landscape experience is a must. Minimum 1 year working as a fertilizer technician is preferred.
· Ability to diagnose and repair issues within residential and commercial lawns.
· Must have a strong work ethic and positive outlook whether working independently or in group settings. Presentability, reliability and integrity are necessary.
· Ability to understand and use dispatching software successfully.
· Must show proven knowledge of the maintenance and mechanical function of fertilizer equipment.
· Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge and brush trimmers and axes.
· Solid communication and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
· Adaptability to thrive in a constantly changing work environment.
· Able to lift over 50lbs and work in extreme weather.
· Must have a valid driver’s license and must be able to acquire a DOT medical card within 2 weeks of hire.
· Proven knowledge of safe and successfully operations of equipment and trailer towing.
Education &/or Degree:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Minimum one year of experience performing lawn and turf care using fertilizers.
Licensing:
· A Valid MDAR Pesticide Certification - Applicator (CORE) license is required.
· A Valid Driver’s License and DOT Medical Card are required. Hoisting/ Hydraulics licensing a plus.
Other:
Typically, the work schedule is Monday through Friday. Some Saturdays may be required to accommodate clients’ needs and adjust for weather conditions.
