I am a quadriplegic who uses a power wheelchair, so I need help getting into bed – we use a Hoyer lift, which we can teach you how to operate. After we land me in the bed, we may also do range of motion exercises. About 5 minutes on each limb.
Then my basic evening routine is raising the bed to a sitting position and feeding me supper. Minor kitchen cleanup is afterwards. I request my roommates clean up after themselves.
Sometimes there is minor laundry to attend to, depending on our time.
I have begun to use oxygen and a nebulizer on occasion. This is an excellent job for those who want experience with nursing skills! I used to be a teacher and I love people.
In short, I am seeking kind and capable personal care assistants to help me keep living a meaningful, independent, and productive life. I live in a very friendly neighborhood and keep in touch with close friends and family.
Please contact me SOON if you have questions or concerns. I need to hire NOW. Would love to hear a little bit about what you have been doing for work and what draws you to this type of work. Look forward to talking with you! References will be required.
Transportation – Buses run from Forest Hills to Roslindale Village, which is about a
10 minute walk to my house. There is also a 51 bus that runs between Forest Hills and Cleveland Circle. It stops at the end of my street, and then a short walk down the
street to my house. We are also about a five-minute walk To the commuter rail stop between Needham and downtown Boston commuter rail, with many local stops in between. Please check MBTA map.
Thank you!
