What is a Community Health Worker (CHW)?
Community Health Workers (CHWs) are essential frontline professionals who connect local communities with public health and social services, addressing health inequities caused by language barriers, cultural stigmas, and lack of culturally responsive education. CHWs leverage their lived experiences to effectively bridge the gap between community members and essential resources.
Program Overview:
Our FREE 10-week hybrid training program offers an excellent opportunity to enter the public health sector. Participants will benefit from comprehensive job training and placement assistance through our network of employer partners.
Program Benefits:
-$600 stipend
-Lunch provided during in-person training
-80 hours of MA Board of Certification of CHW curriculum with experienced trainers
-Job readiness training

-Financial literacy workshops
-Job placement assistance with healthcare providers and community partners in Greater Boston and beyond
-Valuable CHW skills training for career advancement
-Ongoing guidance throughout the employment process
Program Commitment:
-Enrollees must be able to attend all classes to graduate.
-Enrollees must agree to share information such as salary, title, and start date as an apprentice, and agree to follow-up retention.
-Must have a goal to seek full-time employment after training.
Minimum Selection Criteria:
-Must be a Massachusetts resident
-18 years or older
-Unemployed or Underemployed
-Seeking full-time employment after program completion
-Have a high school diploma or equivalent
-Proficient in English
-Authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship
