About Us:

Colette Wine Bistro is a bistro style French restaurant that offers inspired dishes, a strong wine list, and cocktails. Colette serves breakfast Tuesday- Friday, Brunch on the weekends, and Dinner Tuesday- Sunday. Located inside the Porter Square Hotel, we cater to both out of town visitors, as well as our cherished neighborhood regulars.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced guest-facing Restaurant Assistant Manager to join our team at Colette Wine Bistro. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing outstanding customer service, possess strong leadership skills, and have a thorough understanding of people-first dinner service.

Responsibilities:

1. Train, mentor, and motivate staff to deliver exceptional service and uphold the highest levels of professionalism. Lead daily pre-shift meetings to share announcements and reminders of steps of service as well as review restaurant operations content knowledge.

2. Supervise and coordinate restaurant staff to ensure efficiency and adherence to company standards during shifts.

3. Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a prompt and courteous manner, striving to resolve issues to the satisfaction of the guest. Communicate with front and back of house staff on guest experiences, both positive and negative.

4. Develop and manage a training program to onboard new employees, including a checklist of skills and content knowledge that each must have based on their role.

5. Execute the beverage program, completing ordering, inventory, and staff education around beer, wine, and cocktails.

6. Collaborate with the Event Coordinator to determine that events held at Colette will be executed seamlessly

7. Contribute to creating a positive work environment that fosters teamwork, communication, and employee satisfaction.

8. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards.

9. Assist in developing and implementing strategies to enhance the dining experience and drive revenue growth.

10. Complete all daily financial and operation reports including cash outs.

11. Manage and create weekly staff work schedules on Sling that are responsive to upcoming events and projected sales.

Requirements:

1. Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role within the restaurant industry, preferably in an upscale establishment.

2. Knowledge of formal restaurant operations and steps of service including wine service

3. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

4. Strong organizational and time management abilities with a keen attention to detail. Inclination to step into various roles as needed during service to assist staff as needed in order to support and provide seamless service to guests.

5. Ability to stand for the entirety of an 8 hour shift, lift and transport items in excess of 50lbs, kneel, bend over, and lift items above head.

6. Proficiency in restaurant management software including Toast and OpenTable.

7. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

8. TIPS, Serv Safe, and Crowd Manager certified

Preferred Qualifications

1. At least 5+ years’ work experience in upscale dining establishments

2. Prior training/experience as an Expo

3. At minimum, conversationally fluent in Spanish

4. Possess knowledge and understanding of French cuisine and culture especially wine
