Event Coordinator and Assistant Manager

Seeking dynamic individual who will serve as both event coordinator and part time restaurant manager. This hybrid position offers a competitive base salary of $60,000 as well as a percentage of event sales. Projected event sales: $500,000

Individual must be organized, creative, thoughtful, gracious, and a people person. Restaurant owner is seeking thought partner in this role to expand the reputation of the establishment as a whole. New ideas will be highly encouraged.

Restaurant is French, and located inside the Porter Square Hotel in Cambridge. Concept is intended to shift in Fall 2024, and the Event Coordinator will be a key piece of that redesign.

Responsibilities:

- SALES: seek out and manage new streams of event revenue for the restaurant including: pop ups, weddings, private dinners, public events and experiences. Directly represent the restaurant and venue.

- MANAGE: must be able to oversee 2-3 dinner shifts at the restaurant per week (approximately 3pm-11pm). Prior experience in a restaurant and managing a staff is a must. Days of the week for in person management are flexible.

- ADVERTISING & MARKETING: manage the restaurant’s Instagram and email marketing. Minimum of 1 Instagram posts per week, and 2 email marketing campaigns.

- COMMUNICATE: with the adjoining hotel room blocks for wedding parties, convey event set up with restaurant staff, and develop event menus with Chef. Event Coordinator is expected to create a BEO and scheduling system to streamline these components.

- COORDINATE: organize and manage all communication and logistics related to event hosting, including staff schedules, event itinerary, event advertising (if public), offsite catering if applicable, pricing, contract language, etc. Coordinator is expected to be on site for all events for the first few months of employment. Expectation is that manager will maintain high standards of food quality, service, and cleanliness.

- Additional opportunity: restaurant owner also owns a mixology events company specializing in private cocktail classes. There is opportunity to also coordinate those events for additional %. Prior background in bartending or related role is a must. 2023 sales: $150,000.

Required qualifications: Prior restaurant and staff management experience, proved track record in event coordination in sales, positive and team-focused attitude with a preference towards working in collaboration, creative skils

Preferred qualifications: Menu design experience, bilingual, inventory management skills, social media content creation
