JonquilsCafe is looking for a full time barista to join the team. Baristas at Jonquils are responsible for everything in the front-of-house operation, this includes prep work, crafting beverages, plating and boxing desserts, cleaning, etc.
Jonquils is an elegant and fun cafe and bakery located on Newbury St in Boston. We make intricately crafted desserts from scratch in-house, and we have a quality focused coffee and tea program to match. We prepare our espresso on a Kees van der Westen Spirit, and our coffee is roasted by Gracenote Coffee, a company local to Massachusetts.
Jonquils baristas are the face of the company, and because of this, top-notch customer service skills are a requirement, and the most important quality in a potential candidate.
Previous barista experience is a plus, but we'd rather train the right candidate who meets our customer service criteria than hire a grouchy barista, no matter their skill level.
The right candidate for us must:
- Be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and ambitious.
- Have a relatively flexible schedule.
- Work well under pressure, and be able to handle multi-tasking in a fast paced environment.
- Have a love of coffee, a curiosity to learn more, and a drive to advance their skills and career.
Big bonuses for us:
- SCA or similar certifications, or completion of similarcoffee related training programs.
- A second language in addition to English.

Barista
