Opportunity Overview The Senior Director, Assistant Controller is a highly visible role that is responsible for the Company’s accounting, financial reporting and internal controls requirements. This is a key position for the finance and accounting organization reporting directly to the VP, Corporate Controller. The Senior Director, Assistant Controller will manage a team of accountants. Responsibilities and Duties Financial Reporting / Internal Controls

Oversee, coordinate, and draft key sections of all Rhythm’s SEC filings (including Forms 10-Q / K financial statements, footnotes, and Management's Discussion and Analysis).

Ensure the SEC 10-Q/K reports are filed timely.

Provide guidance and drive implementation of new SEC reporting requirements.

Ensure adherence to US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).

Investigate complex accounting matters and reporting issues and prepare technical accounting position papers.

Collaborate with investor relations and legal groups to compile quarterly earnings report information.

Direct coordination with external auditors and consultants on a quarterly and annual basis.

Oversee all SOX controls related to financial reporting. Assess the design and functionality of internal controls over financial reporting, document any deficiencies, and report remediation plans to management.

Work closely with various departments, such as finance, IT, legal, HR, and operations to ensure compliance with SOX requirements.

Oversee management review controls of key areas (equity, financial statement close process and others).

Other responsibilities

Develop talent and lead a superior, high-performing team.

Oversee accounting for all equity transactions (e.g. stock-based compensation, EPS calculations, support of periodic stock option exercises and RSU releases).

Assist with monthly and quarterly analytical reviews of consolidated and individual entity balance sheet and income statements.

Assist VP, Corporate Controller with quarterly provision for income taxes and managing outsourced income tax consultants.

Support international accounting and finance function expansion through knowledge sharing and trainings.

Support finance team with special projects and ad-hoc reporting requests.

Qualifications and Skills

Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs and recommendations. Excellent analytical skills and an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way and to orchestrate plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks.

Bachelor degree in Accounting.

Minimum of 12 years progressive, relevant financial experience.

Excellent leadership and team management skills.

CPA is strongly desired, preferably with public accounting experience.

Experience in a publicly traded life sciences company preferred.

Working knowledge of SEC reporting Deep knowledge of US GAAP requirements and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.

Very strong analytical skills and the ability to plan work strategically, identifying areas of training and continuous improvement.

Experience working with all levels of management and key business stakeholders.

Ability to collaborate and influence across the global organization.

Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a team, as well as with external partners and vendors.

Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.

Recognized leader and change agent within the organization.

This role is based out of our corporate office in Boston, Massachusetts. Rhythm operates in a hybrid-work model. Candidates applying must be willing and able to be in the Boston office in coordination with their department and business needs. This role may involvesome travel.
