Job Description: Become a segment producer for a nightly, direct-to-consumer Boston Globe-branded show on Globe.com, the NESN360 service and linear channel. Work with team to prepare the program for daily delivery. Responsibilities:
Segment producer responsible for several aired segments per week
Responsible for several recorded interviews / straight to camera shoots per week
Pitch stories each week and suggest segments or series / read assigned stories
Able to write news headlines, strong story intros and teases
Book reporters, work with reporter on TV etiquette, prepare for interview
Responsible for timing/graphics and supervision of recorded interviews
Write Host pre-production packet for each interview
Collaborate with host on interviews (one-on-one chat before interview begins)
Paper edit segment for editor, provide notes on “finished” segment before it goes to EP for QC
Field produce periodic segments with cameraperson
Create list and help source assets
Cultivate relationships with reporters/editors in the newsroom
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
5+ years segment producer experience (news preferable)
Able to work with people and collaborate
Knowledge of ENPS will be vital to the role (can be trained)
Excellent written, verbal communication organizational skills are required
Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook is necessary
Attention to detail as well as general understanding of postproduction and social media delivery best practices
Flexible approach to work and a disciplined ethic; weekend work, late nights or early mornings may be required occasionally
Comfort multi-tasking across projects and strong communication skills. Success in the job will rely on candidate’s ability to keep multiple parties updated on progress across several things at one time
Comfort working on deadline
Experience working at a news organization
A willingness to adapt and be audience focused, with a curious mindset and a commitment to creating an inclusive work environment
The BGMP office is located in downtown Boston, near Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, and is easily accessible by MBTA and commuter rail lines. This position is based in Boston, and candidates should be based in the area or willing to move.
