Job Description

The Novice Nurse Program at Tufts Medical Center and Tufts Children's Hospital is a comprehensive program designed to support newly licensed nurses as they begin their professional careers within a busy academic medical center. The program builds upon the solid foundation already established through completion of a BSN program by providing participants with the resources necessary to strengthen and expand their skills. The start dates for the Novice Nurse Program will be late June 2021 and late July 2021.

About the Department of Emergency Medicine (ED):The ED at Tufts MC is a vibrant environment open 24/7/365, caring for more than 50,000 adult and pediatric patients annually, and is responsible for over 40% of Tufts MC's admissions. We operate a full service Emergency Room: Level I Adult Trauma Center, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, Pediatric Room and Express Care Center. Our team is ready to deal with any and every emergency, from a broken ankle to multi-trauma-related injuries from a motor vehicle accident. We are committed to providing the most advanced, quality care available.The talented team in the ED consists of more than 60 RN's, several Board Certified Physicians, and experts from many different disciplines. Responsibilities:

  • As an RN in the ED you will demonstrate and apply the skills and judgment necessary to implement the nursing plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures necessary for the care of the patient and family based upon critical thinking skills and a spirit of inquiry.
  • The ideal RN utilizes theoretical and evidence-based knowledge while adhering to the standards of nursing practice embedded in research, evidence based practice and/or best practices, and in partnering with patients and their families.
  • As an RN you will be a champion for quality, safety, regulatory and patient-family satisfaction. Utilizing data trends to support and improve clinical practice, the RN provides high quality care in an efficient and safe manner.
  • The RN is a lifelong learner, invested in developing and maintaining their continuing competence, enhancing their professional practice and support achievement of their career goals.

Qualifications

  • Recent graduate or less than one year of RN experience.
  • MA RN license required prior to the program start date
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • BLS certification
