The McDermott lab is seeking participants to be part of a hearing study.
- Our goal is to understand how people judge and respond to different sounds.
- This study will contribute to our understanding of human auditory perception.
- This study is being conducted by the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT.
Participants must:
- Be non-musicians
- Be born and raised in the US
- Be between the age 18 - 50
What will this study involve?
- Listening to sounds through headphones
- Making judgments about those sounds, including whether you like or dislike them
- Voicing your responses aloud to the experimenter
- The study will last no longer than 1 hour and will take place in a public space.
Compensation:
- Participants will be compensated $15/hr for their time.
- This will be given in the form of a mailed check to be delivered to participants within two weeks of participation.
The study will take place on the MIT campus in Cambridge, MA. We cannot reimburse for parking or transportation. There is metered street parking and the study is easily accessible from the Kendall/MIT Red Line Station.
