3D Compositing Artist

<p>The Marketing Imagery and 3d Visualization team is a dynamic, tech focused division here at Wayfair. We are on a mission to revolutionize how images are created at scale in the retail space by employing industry experts from visual fx and architectural visualization. The 3D Viz group works on highly visible projects that drive innovation and market competitiveness for Wayfair and its partners. Our team's ability to quickly produce high-quality photo-realistic images for both print and web is a core differentiator for our company. </p><p>We are looking for a <strong>Full Time (remote okay, east coast preferred)</strong> <strong>3D compositing artist</strong> to achieve our goals of producing high-quality photo-realistic images at scale. This individual will be responsible for taking final 3d renders that extra mile, using Nuke, Photoshop and other tools to blend AOVs, add effects, motion, and details to really polish an image or sequence to absolute photorealism. The work generally revolves around, but is not limited to, aspirational, and inspirational marketing images and animations that are used across all of our marketing channels. This role would sit adjacent to the lighting team, working very closely with our head of CG. We seek someone with deep knowledge of Nuke, and particularly using Nuke to make CG as realistic as possible. Having an efficient outlook, and light scripting abilities to drive automation within your workflow is a large plus. Understanding and using ShotGrid is critical.</p><p>Successful applicants will need to be highly-driven, self-sufficient, communicative, thrive in a pipeline seeking constant technological advancements, and have an excellent eye for detail. You will need to demonstrate an understanding of how light, shadow, and color create an architectural tone and mood and how to make an image genuinely fool the audience to believe it is real.</p><p><strong>What You'll Do:</strong></p><ul><li>Execute daily production work of finalizing CG outputs from the team, guaranteeing images are delivered at the highest quality bar and on time.</li><li>Responsible for manipulating AOVs, adding details, motion, 2d effects elements to create engaging photoreal final assets.</li><li>Pivot regularly to meet our ever changing business needs. Remaining agile and organized will be a key to success at Wayfair. </li></ul><p><strong>What You'll Need:</strong></p><ul><li>Portfolio or PDF of body of work</li><li>Compositing skills and deep understanding of the Foundry’s Nuke. Experience with polishing and fixing 3D outputs to final quality. 2D compositing skills a bonus, but wont be the day to day work. Knowledge of competing software packages such as Natron, Fusion, Resolve etc helpful.</li><li>A keen eye for photorealistic detail, an understanding of how to use stock photography elements to add realism to images and animations.</li><li>3+ years working as a compositing artist, working with 3d rendered imagery.</li><li>Ability to take and give constructive feedback well and apply it to their work, daily. Be proactive and communicative with their approach to raise the bar of realism on outputs.</li><li>Proven ability to work successfully within and across teams. We work closely with our cutting-edge team of Lighting, Post, and Art Direction teams. Strong collaboration and communication skills are mandatory.  </li><li>You will need to be organized, proactive, and a self-starter. We are looking for a team player that can communicate effectively with the team and stakeholders in an approachable and personable way. Calm under pressure and committed to meet tight deadlines with a positive, can-do attitude. </li></ul><p> </p><p><em>The salary range for this position is $83,500-92,500 however, pay offered may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
