The VP Relationship Manager is responsible for originating new CRE banking relationships, for managing existing accounts, and for engaging in community outreach and involvement efforts. The VP RM is expected to actively call on prospects, centers of influence and existing customers. The VP RM will collaborate with business partners across the banking and generate cross sales.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :The VP Relationship Manager will be responsible for acquiring new and managing existing commercial banking relationships in the Regional CRE market. Key components of these responsibilities include:1). Business DevelopmentIdentify new prospects and centers of influence in our market for both CRE opportunities. Actively look to cross sell existing customers and prospects. Be proactive in the marketplace in promoting Eastern Bank and its mission in giving back to the Community; included in this is becoming actively involved with local organizations that raise Eastern Bank’s profile in the market.2) Portfolio ManagementMaintain awareness of maturating credits, overdue payments, financial information reporting; etc, which could affect the status of the commercial relationships and take appropriate action. Insure that financial information is collected on a timely basis and that credit exposure is properly rated reflecting credit quality over time. Maintain frequent contact with the clients and serve as representative of EB insuring that the client’s deposit, cash management, insurance and investment management needs are being properly handled.3) Credit UnderwritingReview existing credit facilities and new credit applications, analyze credit quality and make recommendations as to how to structure and price these facilities. Present relevant data and recommendations to the Team Leader and Credit Committee when appropriate. Work with legal counsel to facilitate documentation of credit facilities.PROBLEM SOLVING & DECISION MAKING :
Incumbent originates and manages commercial banking relationships representing significant credit exposure to the Bank. Incumbent is responsible for recommending loan pricing and structure. Incumbent is responsible for negotiating loan commitments, credit agreements including loan covenants and default provisions. Incumbent sells complex interest rate hedge products along with cash management products.
REQUIREMENTS :
Proven underwriting abilities, including 3-5 years’ experience in commercial credit and/or commercial banking. Formal bank credit training preferred.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred.
Skills/Knowledge:
Familiarity with middle market commercial real estate and commercial & industrial companies within the New England marketplace.
Incumbent should be able to excel with integrity in an entrepreneurial, team-oriented environment.
Proficient/computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Argus, market software such as Costar and REIS, with the willingness/ability to learn new software as necessary.
