This includes the build-out of new automation systems as well as supporting scientists using our existing systems. The person filling this role will design and implement automation solutions ranging from simple devices to fully integrated workcells. They will follow best practices, demonstrate creative thinking, as they contribute to complex projects. They will join lab automation (hardware) with informatics (software and data) through their individual contributions and their cross-team collaboration.Accountabilities:The person filling this role will:
Collaborate with Global Biologics (GB) scientists to design, develop, optimize, and implement new automation solutions for GB teams, focusing on the selection, production, screening, and characterization of therapeutics across various modalities.
Develop custom software solutions integrating automation platforms with GB’s informatics stack.
Contribute to complex automation projects, including fully integrated workcells. This includes requirements gathering, system design, adjusting to stakeholder feedback, vendor management, procurement coordination, and software/data integration. Be able to work independently on tasks of appropriate complexity. Complete projects on agreed timelines.
Introduce innovation to the Automation Team. This might include advances in CAD, 3D printing, electronics, software, system monitoring, AI/ML, and other emerging automation technologies. Effectively share knowledge across the team.
Learn GB workflows and processes to the level that enables themselves to be effective and forward-thinking about automation solutions.
Provide support automation users’ in real-time to enable them to advance GB projects.
Education & Competencies (Technical and Behavioral):
BS with 5+ years of relevant experience experience, MS with 3+ years of relevant experience. Degree should be in life sciences or engineering.
Demonstrated advanced fluency with at least one of the following scheduling applications: Cellario, Overlord, Green Button Go, or Momentum
Demonstrated advanced fluency with at least one of the following liquid handlers: Dynamic Devices Lynx, Tecan, Hamilton, or Agilent Bravo
Programming fluency in Python or C#.
Able to work independently on medium to simple complexity projects. Able to manage time and priorities effectively.
Able to communicate clearly, especially with less technical colleagues.
