Description Robert Half is searching for a talented Database Administrator to support a company in the Education industry. The Database Administrator role is a short-term contract / temporary opportunity and is situated in Amherst, Massachusetts.Responsibilities
Determine the best way to improve performance, whether through hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes
Suggest solutions for database design, tuning options, and other potential issues
Baseline system performance and monitor for deviation, recommending and implementing improvements to slow running queries
Configure database monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms
Handle all database instances, installing, configuring, and maintaining them across development, staging, and production environments
Solve database service outages as they happen during hours, after hours, and on weekends
Verify that SLA objectives for database server topology, configuration, and maintenance are met in design and execution Requirements - Oracle Data Integration experience
Proficiency in Data Guard
Foundational knowledge in Dataguard
Solid understanding of Oracle Data Guard
3+ years of database experience
Aptitude for adjusting queries to improve performance
Experience developing and maintaining documentation
Storage and server hardware experience a plus
Prior experience in production and on-call environments
