Metrology Technician -Towson, MD

You'll get to:- Responsible for quality of prototype parts before they are delivered to the NPD community. This includes measuring parts from external suppliers.
- Assuring all measurement equipment is kept current and calibrated per ISO and SBD requirements
- Communicate effectively with machinist and engineers on the status of parts during the entire prototyping cycle.
- Ability to work with new product development engineers and designers on methods to successfully measure prototype components and solve inspection problems.
- Proficient in using and reading standard measuring equipment micrometers, calipers, etc.
- Expert understanding of GD&T principles and functionality related to ensuring prototype parts meet the desired form, fit, function, and assembly.
- Ability to compose technical inspection reports for customers.
- Experience using CMM equipment. Preferably a Brown & Sharp Micro Excel
- Proven ability to using PC-DMIS, a comprehensive geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) software capable of composing interactive or offline programming routines for part inspection.
- Develop and maintain calibration logs for Towson Prototype Shop equipment per SBD/ ISO regulations. To included but not limited to:
- Annual documentation/calibration of all Towson Prototype Shop general inspection/measuring tools and gages.
- Annual documentation/calibration of all Towson Prototype Shop machinists measuring instruments.
- CNC machining, Mastercam programming, fixture design and CATIA experience is a plus
