Job Summary: This position uses some subject-matter knowledge and judgment to complete assignments consisting of numerous steps varying in nature and sequence. Typical duties include assisting in a variety of administrative matters; compiling information; and handling and adjusting complaints. The General Clerk III also direct lower-level clerks. Primary Duties Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

Sort, open and distribute incoming mail according to destination or type of such as mail orders, catalog requests, bills, payments, etc.

Distribute UPS, Federal Express, and other carrier packages between building locations.

Deliver and pick up interoffice and outgoing mail between building locations.

Process outgoing and international mail.

Runs postage machine and prepares outgoing mail for pick up.

Maintains files and records of documents processed.

Interfaces with customers, suppliers, or company employees outside the immediate work area on a regular basis to give or exchange information.

Additional Responsibilities

May work alone or under minimal supervision.

Assists customers in resolving shipping or delivery issues.

Responsible for performing job in safe manner, with concern for others and a desire to increase production.

Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Process accountable mail utilizing accountable mail tracking system.

Process unidentifiable accountable mail.

Provide coverage at offsite locations as needed.

Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

High School Diploma, or General Educational Development (GED) required.

One to two years general clerical experience in an office environment Preferred.

Experience working in a mail center or warehouse environment required.

Experience in UPS and Federal Express shipping procedures Preferred.

Knowledge of U.S Postal regulations in the process of dealing with incoming, outgoing, certified, registered, insured and express mail. Experience in operating various mailroom machines Preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to perform routine tasks on special class mail as well as routine and repetitive tasks for long periods with minimum supervision.

Must be able to stand, reach, and walk for long periods of time.

Ability to make minor decisions regarding mail issues/questions.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply, and divide with 10's and 100's.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Basic ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office software and accountable mail tracking system. Basic typing skills.

Ability to perform routine tasks on special class mail as well as routine and repetitive tasks for long periods with minimum supervision.

Good reading and writing skills.
