About WSMWorkSource Montgomery, Inc. (WSM) is a nonprofit organization and fiduciary agent for Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act funding in Montgomery County. The non-profit organization operates the American Job Centers in Wheaton and Germantown and provides employment services to county residents who are unemployed or underemployed. WSM supports Montgomery County Businesses by engaging employers in various industries throughout the county to ensure that their workforce needs are met. Additionally, WSM is responsible for delivering Career Coaching Services to all 6th to 12th grade Montgomery County Public Schools students.Job OverviewReporting to the Director of Industry Engagement, this position is responsible for connecting with and engaging local employers and individual employees to provide experiential learning opportunities to Montgomery County Maryland Middle and High School students exposing them to a wide variety of industries and occupations. This effort is funded by the Blueprint for Maryland's Future, a comprehensive education reform law that mandates that local workforce development boards deliver individualized career coaching to all Middle and High School students.The Industry Engagement Coordinator (IEC) will establish relationships with employers and individual professionals across the widest spectrum of industries possible to develop them as resources for in-person and virtual presentations and field trips, we well as internships or training opportunities for High School students. The IEC will coordinate these activities with WSM's Career Education Managers and Career Advisors, along with MCPS administrators and teachers, to introduce students to vocations, more closely matching areas of occupational interest as these interests are further refined over time.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ability to garner enthusiasm to join in the Blueprint effort and to project excitement about the prospective outcomes.

Effective business communication skills, both verbal and written, with keenattention to detail.

Ability to review copy with a critical eye toward various stakeholder perspectives.

In-tandem with Career Advising Coaches, support the coordination of on and off-site experiences for students to visit places of employment/have career skill development experiences aligned with data and program scope and sequence.

Coordinatewith WSM and MCPS staff to provide experiential learning opportunities so students can become familiar with industries and occupations that match their RIASEC themes.

Ensurethat the experiential learning is balanced across RIASEC themes and delivered in a manner that meets the student's needs, accounting for each school's schedule, and is an efficient use of the business representative's time and energy.

Supply informationto Career Education Managers and Career Advisors to share with students regarding the MCPS program and initiatives that support career exploration. Examples include Career and Technical Education options, internships, college preparation, or service-learning opportunities.

Work with places of employment to craft meaningful, hands-on experiences for students aligned with instructional best practice.

Interface with business professionals, MCPS school, and central office staff to ensure smooth delivery of experiential learning opportunities including logistics.

Work with MCPS Cluster Leads to assist in logistics, always mindful of employer considerations, and work closely with Career Advising Coaches and MCPS Cluster Leads to orches rate all levels of exploration planning and management.

Establish and maintainexcellent collaborative working relationshipswith WSM staff, especially Marketing to promote awareness, events and employer supporters, and partners, especially MCPS educators and administrators.

Ensurethat WSM occupation exploration services are delivered in a manner that is culturally competent, equitable, and suitable for a variety of learning styles.

Attendoff-site career exploration experiences alongside coaches, students, and teacher chaperones.

Provide representationduring staff and public/community meetings on behalf of the WSM Career Education Team.

Utilize labor market informationthat will support students to make better decisions about their selected careers.

Knowledge of local and regional Labor Market Information using Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) and Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) databases, Dun and Bradstreet, Lightcast, Book of Lists, and the like, to research industry trends/skills/job types.

Flexibility, adaptability, and patience in dealing with multiple quickly shifting priorities and demanding timelines.

Time management, organizational, and follow-up skills.

Qualifications and Requirements

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

At least three (3) years of relevant experience within the business community as an account manager, business development representative, consultant, or related role.

Familiaritywith workforce development and career pathways, public school education systems, private enterprise, and not-for-profit entities.

Any offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of WSM and Montgomery County Public Schools background screenings.

Must have daily access to reliable transportation to use in the performance of the job.
