DescriptionICF is seeking a Data Analyst to support Department of Defense (DoD) mental health research projects that seek to maintain and broaden DoD’s understanding of various mental health conditions that are of most importance to the DoD. The position involves working with researchers to collect mental health research data, manipulate/format data, and enter the data into repositories; support the development of research proposals, reports, and presentations; manage datasets using statistical and office software suites; and provide clerical and logistics support for research meetings (scheduling, generating minutes). The research projects in which the Data Analyst will engage support servicemen and women who need these supports due to traumatic brain injury, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Adjustment Disorders, Operational Stress, and other mental health conditions of concern to the DoD.Key Responsibilities:This position will support a variety of data management and analysis activities, to include, but not be limited to:
Work closely with researchers, data scientists, and statisticians to translate detailed study criteria and compile datasets for planned analyses
Conceptualize, design, and conduct exploratory analyses and report on key findings to inform respective studies
Manage requests, acquisition, and use of large military health and personnel datasets through secure virtual platforms to support a diverse portfolio of psychological health research
Develop and facilitate implementation of standard operating procedures for research proposal and analytic plan development
Track research study milestones and communicate updates to the Section Chief
Assist researchers with gaining access and use of data via secure virtual platform as needed
Assist with preparation of research publications, presentations, reports
Mandatory Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Public Health, Research Psychology, or other related field
2+ years of post-masters experience providing psychological health research support to include administrative support, data collection, data entry, and preparation of findings for public dissemination
2+ years of experience working with data management systems
2+ years of demonstrated experience using statistical SW packages to include, at a minimum, SAS (SAS competence is an absolute must)
2+ years of experience writing SAS, R, and/or SQL code to manage, extract, and manipulate data from large data repositories and relational databases
2+ years of experience utilizing advanced MS Excel skills in managing, manipulating, and analyzing data
Experience in using above-mentioned statistical SW packages and MS Excel to manage and analyze data in response to ad hoc questions
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance
Must be a US Citizen
Beneficial Qualifications (not required):
3 years’ experience providing research support in the field of military psychological health, including administrative support, data collection, data entry, and preparation of findings for public dissemination.
Experience working with healthcare records or health-related data
Experience working in DoD or other government agencies
Experience developing strategies for process improvement
