Description We are searching for a meticulous and dedicated Controller to join our team in the non-profit sector in Silver Spring, Maryland. The role will primarily involve overseeing the organization's financial activities, including journal entries, month end close, balance sheet account reconciliations, and audit preparation. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Oversee and manage the preparation of journal entries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Conduct month end close procedures to maintain the organization's financial health Carry out balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance Prepare monthly financial statements, providing detailed and accurate records of the organization's financial status Assist in audit preparation, ensuring all necessary documentation is in order and readily available Adhere to and implement non-profit financial regulations and legislation, ensuring the organization remains compliant Use skills in Month End Close, Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation, Journal Entries, Audit Prep, and Monthly Financial Statements to enhance job performance and efficiency. Requirements Must possess experience in the Non-Profit sector Demonstrable proficiency in Month End Close procedures is required. Must have experience in Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation. Ability to prepare Journal Entries accurately and efficiently is necessary. Experience in Audit Preparation is essential. Must have the ability to produce Monthly Financial Statements. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Must have a high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm, and confidentiality. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, is a must. Advanced knowledge of accounting and financial software systems is required. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Willingness to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines. Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees. Superior analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong presentation skills, able to explain complex financial information to non-financial colleagues.
