Our products and technologies are installed in more than 150 million homes and 10 million buildings worldwide.The Assistant Plant Engineer is responsible for general engineering requirements associated with operations, maintenance, and new specialty equipment. Responsible for equipment performance testing, fuel analysis, materials inventory, and drawing updates.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directs and/or coordinates special maintenance projects or operational problems.

Performs studies to evaluate the most economical changes for equipment or procedures.

Evaluates the need, develop specifications, and/or coordinates the installation or repair of unusual and specialty equipment.

Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports on plant performance/condition, environmental issues, economic analysis, and governmental requirements.

Work with subcontractors on problems or changes with the plant's computer system. These systems are located on the staff PCs, the material inventory system, the work request/preventative maintenance system, the plant LAN, and the drawing index.

Performs minor maintenance, changes, and additions to the plant's PLC and HMI systems.

Assists with any performance testing, troubleshooting, plant performance reporting, and plant mechanical modifications.

Works with Plant Engineer to ensure the plant complies with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations. These regulations include: air, stormwater, discharge water, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, solid waste, accidental spills, and emergency response.

Ensures that the plant drawings are organized for quick retrieval, maintained, and revised both hard copies and electronic versions.

Inspects equipment, tanks, ponds, ducts, stacks, cooling towers, building roofs, roadways, plant compressed air system, etc., for maintenance needs.

Assists with preventive maintenance and minor maintenance projects. Works with Plant Engineer to directs contractors if any are involved with the project.

Tracks special preventative maintenance items such as turbine oil analysis, EHC oil analysis, air compressor oil analysis, and air dryer desiccant analysis.

Will assist in the writing of contracts and specifications for miscellaneous equipment additions, repairs, or studies.

Responsible for maintaining up-to-date plant equipment maintenance and technical records by writing detailed inspection/repair/failure/modification/addition/replacement reports.

Assist with Plant Engineer with the major maintenance and capital budgets associated with any assigned project.

Develops Job Hazard Analysis and/or Safe Work Plans and conducts toolbox safety meetings as needed to accomplish tasks.

Tracks engineering change requests, change orders from beginning to close out, maintains up-to-date documentation of all plant changes.

MUST HAVE

Thorough working knowledge and understanding of power plant systems and Central Plant equipment.

Understanding the plant's role in operating the system safely, reliably, and economically.

Working knowledge of relevant codes, environmental and OSHA regulations, and safety rules relating to the operation and maintenance of the facility.

Ability to learn, test, analyze and troubleshoot all the major plant equipment and systems for performance problems.

Ability to plan, assign, instruct, and direct work responsibilities of others.

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, contractors, and environmental agencies.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

WE VALUE

1 or 2 class Maryland Stationary Engineers License.

Experience in the electrical infrastructure for power or Central Utility Plants.

Two years of COGEN (Cogeneration) Plant experience.

Must be able to successfully obtain a Homeland Security Presidential Directive -12 (HSPD-12).

Good oral and written communication skills.
