Summary This position is located in Office of the Secretary The supervisor is Carrie Safford This position is Non Bargaining Unit This position IS not subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure reporting requirements. This position IS not subject to security ownership restriction reporting requirements Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Secretary of the Commission, administers the Commission staff paper system including SECY papers, COMSECYs, and Commission COMs; provides expert technical advice and recommendations to the Secretary in resolving differing Commissioner positions on pending issues and in planning the Commission schedule; and advises and assists on the planning, scheduling and conduct of Commission business. Responsible for preparation for public Commission meetings and the recording of actions and requests from the Commission and the development of staff requirements based on the meeting. Prepares for closed Commission meetings, ensuring Government in the Sunshine Act requirements are met. Provides senior level technical direction and leadership in the resolution of differing Commissioner views as expressed in comments on Commission papers and in Commission meetings and performs any functions necessary to assist the Commission in carrying out its responsibilities. In administering scheduling of Commission business, assists in the development of a forecast of technical/legal issues, development of the Commission’s meeting and briefing schedule and coordinates schedules with the Chairman and Commissioners. Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following: 1. Demonstrated ability to administer and manage complex activities and projects of a policy, programmatic and technical nature, and achieve resolution of problems involving conflicting opinions. 2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 3. Demonstrated knowledge of NRC’s regulatory programs, policies, and regulations. 4. Demonstrated ability to function as an organizational representative and liaison on substantive technical and policy issues. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is defined as experience which demonstrates specific knowledge of engineering/scientific principles as it applies to the nuclear regulatory program, general knowledge of the principles of public administration and organizational management; and experience in the administration and management of complex projects requiring extensive coordination. Education Additional Information The duty location of this position is Rockville, MD. In general, employees are expected to be in the office at a minimum of 4 days per pay period. Telework schedules, including full-time telework, are approved, on a case-by-case basis. If selected, telework will be determined in accordance with Agency policy and the Collective Bargaining Agreement, if applicable.
