Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering LeaderJob DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering Leader with a deep technical background in semiconductor technology. This role is critical in overseeing and coordinating fabrication activities across both research and production. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, excellent project management skills, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.Responsibilities
Work with Engineers and Management to oversee project technical progress, schedule, and deliverables.
Design, execute, and manage internal, external, and hybrid manufacturing workflows to mature, document, and track manufacturing capabilities and process stability.
Plan day-to-day and long-term fabrication activities, coordinating across both internal and external teams.
Coordinate production schedules, research initiatives, and resource allocation to meet strategic goals.
Ensure adherence to quality standards, process controls, and safety regulations across all fabrication processes.
Monitor project resourcing and budgets, including forecasting.
Lead a team of researchers, process engineers, fabrication, packaging and integration teams, and engage with external partners to continuously advance development.
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between internal R&D and external partners to transfer process requirements and knowledge.
Source and develop partnerships with facilities that have requisite processing capabilities, tools, and know-how for collaboration.
Lead and manage multiple semiconductor fabrication projects, including both R&D and production scale-up.
Develop and track project plans, timelines, budgets, and milestones, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Allocate and optimize resources, including equipment, materials, and personnel, to maximize efficiency and productivity.
Track resource allocation and progress against objectives. Develop, record, and analyze metrics related to productivity, quality, and efficiency.
Provide technical guidance and expertise in semiconductor fabrication processes.
Identify and implement process improvements, efficiency enhancements, and yield improvements.
Continue to develop, maintain, and grow a network in the semiconductor industry.
Contribute to technology and process innovation to close capability gaps, develop capabilities roadmaps, and represent resource and facilities needs.
Oversee the preparation and maintenance of detailed process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flow diagrams.
Lead audits and assessments of fabrication processes to ensure continuous adherence to quality and regulatory requirements.
Comply with all regulatory requirements. Provide safety and operational training and maintain records.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
Essential Skills
Deep technical knowledge of semiconductor technology from academic and professional experience, ideally in MEMS or Sensors.
Experience with manufacturing operations, contract manufacturer/vendor oversight, and process development/engineering.
Leadership experience, including acting as a lead or manager of tasks or people.
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
At least 7-9 years of experience with at least 2-3 years of higher-level responsibility such as leading or managing tasks or people.
Previous experience in commercial MEMS/Sensors production.
Strong understanding of semiconductor process technologies, equipment, and experience managing fabrication projects with complex process flows and supply chains.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with advanced semiconductor fabrication techniques, such as MEMS fabrication, GaN processing, and physical vapor deposition.
Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and lean manufacturing principles.
Experience with scaling up fabrication from R&D to production.
Knowledge of backend processes – wafer dicing, packaging, and testing.
Working experience with metrology equipment and processes, including but not limited to scanning electron microscopy (SEM), focused ion beam (FIB) cross-section, ellipsometry/reflectometry, automated optical inspection (AOI), atomic force microscopy (AFM), confocal & optical microscopy/inspection, IR Spectroscopy, contact and non-contact profilometry, or similar techniques.
Previous experience in successful MEMS or related semiconductor technology/process transfer from small scale or research lab to production.
Work EnvironmentOffice environment.
