Serve as deputy project manager in support of the contract’s project manager, as well as a regular point-of-contact with the federal government client for all publication-related requests.
Use science-based communication strategies and tactics, including those that best resonate with audiences of focus, to reach and engage audiences to increase visibility of government communication programs, resources, and materials.
Manage communication product development, working with the federal client, ICF communication specialists, and ICF Next’s Creative Studio to write, edit and manage the production of a range of educational and promotional materials for use in public outreach (e.g., fact sheets, booklets and brochures, web and digital content, and multimedia products) to support a range of communication efforts.
Review new national annual survey results and incorporate updates to statistics and other information into print and online materials in an accurate and timely manner.
Routinely conduct materials sweeps and update other changes to wording and terminology.
Develop tracking systems to ensure efficient updates to materials and coordination with translators for Spanish-language versions.
Work with ICF’s production team to prepare print-ready files and coordinate the production of booklets with area printers.
Work with ICF’s 508 specialists as well as NIH staff to ensure documents posted online meet 508-compliance standards.
Oversee key project tasks and work with project staff on the prioritization, coordination, completion, and submission of key project deliverables.
Independently manage project timelines and work plans.
Organize and lead internal and client meetings, as needed.
As a Communication Manager, Health, you will have:Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in social sciences, health communication, marketing, English, public relations, or equivalent experience required.
5+ years of communications/materials development/health information clearinghouse experience.
U.S. citizenship (required by Federal government forposition)
Ability to pass a background check for an NIH contractor badge.
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of experience
Federal government contracting experience
Professional Skills:
Strong writing and editing skills, with experience writing for a variety of platforms to include print and digital fact sheets, short-form videos, and web pages. Experience with the NIH Style Guide is desirable.
Ability to work well across teams (e.g., graphic designers, editors, 508-compliance specialists) to coordinate development of materials.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize, manage and communicate multiple tasks at a given time.
Strong project management skills, including an ability to triage multiple priorities and pivot as needs change, as well as a meticulous and detail-oriented approach to processes, timelines and communicating with clients and colleagues.
Demonstrated ability to self-start, collaborate, coordinate, and communicate effectively with all levels of client and client partners, including leadership.
Experience with Canva Pro is strongly preferred.
Experience with GovDelivery is desirable but not required.

The successful candidate is ideally located within a commutable distance of the Washington, D.C. metro area, although remote work is mainly anticipated.
