Staff Accountant

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity in the professional services industry, located in Lanham, Maryland. The role is for a Staff Accountant, where you will be responsible for a range of accounting tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger management, and month-end close procedures. This role also requires proficiency in QuickBooks and will be based entirely onsite.Responsibilities: Handle the processing of accounts payable and receivable Conduct regular bank reconciliations Maintain and update the general ledger Prepare journal entries as necessary Execute month-end close procedures Use QuickBooks for various accounting tasks Work independently to fulfill job responsibilities Collaborate with an external accountant for bookkeeping purposes Take initiative and show drive to succeed in the role Handle payroll for a small team of employees Requirements Possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Must have proficiency in using QuickBooks. Prior experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is essential. Familiarity with Bank Reconciliations is required. Experience in maintaining General Ledger and Journal Entries. Demonstrated ability in handling Month End Close processes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High level of integrity and dependability. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks. Must have a good understanding of financial regulations and legislation.
