Candidates must be located in DC metro (DC proper, Prince Georges/Montgomery County MD, Northern VA – This is very important). Work Site Posture: Hybrid 3-4 days a week at either 2401 Mill Road, Alexandria VA, New Carrollton, MD or L’Enfant Plaza (DC). This position will be full-time for 12 months and may get extended.What You’ll Do

Analyze user requirements, technical specifications, and existing technical architecture designs to develop and oversee implementation of architecture for Infrastructures

Work as part of Enterprise Backup Team in supporting and enhancing enterprise-wide backup solutions. (IBM Spectrum Protect and Oracle Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance and VEEAM (future)); Backup Systems hold critical application backup data for Fare Collection, Maximo, Documentum, Cognos, Smart trip, OHAW, DFS Shares, PeopleSoft, SOA, Hyperion, BUS, Cleaver CAD, TRES, TGV

Take part in enhancing and securing Enterprise Backup Solutions and data, working on below listed projects

Enterprise Backup Application (IBM Spectrum Protect) server enhancements and upgrades

Quarterly ISP client upgrades (as and when the patches are released by vendor) to meet the compliance requirements for patching

Enterprise Backup Data migration from legacy TSM to ISP servers

Quarterly AIX upgrades on ISP/TSM Servers

Decommission legacy TSM servers

Configure Quantum Scalar i6000 for new ISP Servers

Decommission and destroy legacy LTO8 tapes

Periodic Dell Unity storage systems firmware upgrades

Design and implement airgap solution for enterprise backup data for cyber protection asper requirements from DMCS

Automate IBM Spectrum Protect Client upgrades using Ansible.

Analyze and test cloud storage integration with IBM Spectrum Protect

Migrating Oracle RMAN backup configuration from ZDLRA to IBM Spectrum Protect

Disaster Recovery test of IBM Spectrum Protect Application

Enhance VEEAM backup solutions

Design backup solution for Power Flex systems

Design disaster recovery solution for Power Flex system using backups

Support Oracle RMAN backups in Azure Cloud workload

Implement ISP operation center

Contractor also involved in below Day to Day activities as part of the responsibility

Supporting all WMATA Existing/New projects (e.g., Next Fare, Faregate, Hyperion) which needs backup resources and service

Analyze ISP performance and design appropriate solutions to meet client needs and monitoring of scheduled backups to ensure success or take remedial action for failures

Perform daily monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of backup jobs on various applications and platforms

Provide ISP supports to database administrators, application analysts, and other system administrators

Provide backup system data statistics to management

Perform periodic restores as requested by end users and other team members

Installation and maintenance of IBM LPAR configuration software

Tuning ISP applications, tape libraries and host Operating Systems

Troubleshoot ISP application issues as well as issues with backups and/or restores.

Support Unix team for AIX OS enhancements and upgrades.

Support UNIX team for RHEL OS enhancements and upgrades.

Manage Dell Unity Storage Systems

Manage and Administer Oracle Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA)

Quarterly Patch Oracle Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA)

Annual PCI, Financial audit compliance for Enterprise Backups

Monitor and report IBM Spectrum Protect Licenses.

What You'll NeedRequired:

As a Senior Solution Engineer to be focused on enterprise back-ups for its on-prem solutions in their data center AND their cloud solution.; They run a couple of backup solutions to meet their needs for business continuity. They are migrating from IBM Spectrum Protect to Oracle’s Zero Loss Recovery product

The ideal candidate will have experience with this migration path but a candidate that has used both should work as well. It is also important that the resource has experience in multiple operating systems (Windows, IBM AIX, Red Hat Linux)

The other tools that are used include Dell Unity Storage and Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN). A critical component of the backup function to adhere to the chain of custody of PCI data associated with credit card transactions for loading fare cards. It is important that this resource has experience backing up and maintaining that data in accordance with PCI laws and regulations

5 years' experience with Oracle Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA)

5 years' experience with Installation and maintenance of IBM LPAR configuration software

6 years' experience with AIX OS enhancements and upgrades

6 years' experience with RHEL OS enhancements and upgrades

3 years' experience with Dell Unity Storage Systems

3 years' experience managing IBM Spectrum Protect Licenses

Physical Demands

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards
