Sr. Accounting Manager | Germantown, MD Why this company?· Aston Carter is hiring for a Sr. Accounting Manager with a government contractor in Montgomery County!Details:· Location: Germantown, MD · 100% On-site· Monday-Friday· 8am-5pm · 6-month contract to hire or Direct PlacementNecessary Skills· 5+ years of Accounting Management experience. · 3+ years of experience in Government Contracting. · 2+ years of Deltek Costpoint experience. · Strong Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) · Manufacturing experience. A day in the role…· Responsible for the direct management of a moderately large/complex accounting function and the accounting staff in support of that function. · Monitor department policies and procedures and recommend improvements; serve as a resource in all aspects of accounting. · Ensure that external document submissions and filings are accurate and timely. · Serve as a liaison between the company and external auditors and regulatory authorities. · Complete reports and analyses of departmental and area operations as requested by management. · May work with external consultants or auditors to provide required information and ensure proper recordkeeping for historical purposes. · Manage the preparation of daily, monthly, annual, and other periodic financial statements. · Responsible for the development, modification, and review of accounting systems, reporting methods and controls. · Ensure integration of data produced into systems and supports objectives of financial analysts. · Ensure the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data and revenue in accordance with GAAP policies and procedures. · Responsible for the employment, training, motivation, and discipline of direct reports (may include support and/or professional staff members). · Assign, direct, and evaluate personnel to ensure efficient operations. · Ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and Company procedures. · Establish accounting plans, goals, and policies that are consistent with established company-wide goals. · Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization. · Apply principles of accounting to monitor and analyze financial information and prepare specialized reports. · Balance books and prepare accounting statements (i.e., profit/loss, income, cash flow, etc.) and schedule. · Record assets and liabilities and other financial transactions. · Maintain records of disbursements and expenses. · Review accounts and reports for accuracy. · May contribute to the design or modification of accounting systems. · Contribute to improving processes and procedures that accurately capture, track and report on financial transactions.
