Description:Drafter/ Jr Designer- Working for Actalent's client to support a variety of substation, and transmission related projects. They will primarily be supporting drafting projects for a publicly owned utility. Actalent's client is an Engineering consulting firm responsible for drafting, design and engineering packages that produce blueprints for Substation and Transmission projects. This candidate will start off likely classified as a drafter or junior designer internally and will be asked to handle basic drafting responsibilities as it relates to a variety of the projects they support. They could be asked to work on drawings for Transmission line projects, Substation projects or both. While supporting these projects they will be asked to do the following:
Attend team/ project meetings
Work independently on electrical, structural, civil drafting concepts
Construction document layout
Basic Design principles (more complex work available based on skill level)
Train with tenured designer/ engineer's
Submit work for quality review
Make corrections when needed
Communicate with internal and external stakeholders as it relates to their project needs/ responsibility.
Work Environment:
Hybrid Schedule- They need someone willing to commute to Elkridge, MD, more so someone who wants to be around and learn from more tenured professionals. The ideal candidate wants to collaborate in a team setting and learn basics for all segments of the work Actalent's client supports. Remote flexibility is offered but not abused. (In office Tues, Wed, Thur)
Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Need to have minimum of associates degree.
Software: MicroStation or AutoCAD. (they will be asked to learn both in the role). GIS as a primary software will not qualify
Nice to have: Utility specific experience (distribution jr designer/ drafter)
Need someone who is ambitious and wants to take on more work/ advance. They don't want stagnant drafters but those who want to take on more design responsibility down the road (1-2 years)
