Based in the Bethesda, Maryland area, this exciting long-term contract / temporary opportunity is set in an engaging work place where hard work is rewarded. The duties of Staff Accountant include fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, and the preparation of monthly and year-end closings. This position spends a fair amount of time producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. You'll also have responsibility over various aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You'll also communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, take part in compliance, and look over schedules for the reporting processes.Your responsibilities
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Be a part of various department-wide initiatives
Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision
Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules Requirements - Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Accounts Payable (AP) experience desired
Journal entries experience required
NetSuite experience
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
ERP system experience
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines
Remarkable analytical, quantitative and social skills
