The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team.The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) Police Force, is recruiting for Victims Rights Advocate. This position provides direct administrative support to the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) of the Professional Standards and Accountability Bureau (PSAB), a select group of sworn investigators and civilian staff working under the authority of the MDOT MTA Police Force and tasked with investigating the most complex and sensitive misconduct investigations for the Department and allied police agencies. This position provides a key role in the day-to-day operations of the I in managing all incoming complaints. The IAU Victims Rights Advocate will maintain contact with complainants via telephone, email and data entry in a citizen accessible database. As a confidential employee, the position communicates daily with citizens. IAU Commanders, IAU investigators and with the Administrative Charging Committee. The Victims Rights Advocate will assist IAU investigators in meeting the Department's requirements concerning investigations of employee misconduct. The Victims Rights Advocate must maintain the highest standards of confidentiality with regard to employment and disciplinary matters, personnel records and issues associated with the Office of Fair Practice, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and other regulatory requirements.QualificationsEducation: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.Experience: Two years experience in administrative or professional work. Candidate must have support services experience in a criminal justice related field or work experience in a public or private agency providing direct human services to members of the publicSELECTIVE QUALIFICATION recruitments are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities). No substitutions are allowed for a Selective Qualification.Notes:

Candidates may substitute education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 credit hours for each year of the required experience.

Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.

Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
