Are you a young adult living with sickle cell disease (SCD)?
We're conducting a research study at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) to test online support and mindfulness interventions designed to help reduce pain and improve quality of life. Our team of researchers at the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Informatics at the University of California, Irvine are led by social psychologist and associate professor Sean D. Young, PhD. Participation is completely voluntary and confidential. This study is completely online, so you can participate from anywhere in the United States.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- Age: 18-30 years old
- Living in the United States
- Diagnosed with sickle cell disease (SCD)
- Experiencing chronic SCD pain
STUDY DETAILS:
- Duration: 6 weeks
- Activities: Join a private, hidden online support group and/or participate in mindfulness sessions
- Surveys: Complete a few short surveys about your experiences
- Privacy: Your participation is private, and your data will be stored securely. We’ve obtained a Certificate of Confidentiality from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to help protect your information.
- Compensation: Earn up to $70 for participating
