Community Organization seeking to hire staff in Baltimore City and Harford County to work with families of juveniles who are justice-involved. This is a Hybrid position Monday-Friday. All applicants will be required to undergo a CPS clearance and a Criminal Justice Background Screening. Must be 21 years or older to apply. Please reply with your resume.

Below is a summary of some of the required duties:

: High School diploma or a GED equivalent; Four years of college preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office software like MS Word and Excel. Good verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to deal with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

Family Support Specialist Duties:

▪ Offer rapid response (e.g., a phone call within 24 hours) when a family has requested assistance

▪ Listen and provide confidential emotional support,

▪ Help families with goal setting

▪ Empower families to make informed choices that are right for them

▪ Assess families’ needs and strengths

▪ Collect referral information

▪ Provide peer support in one-on-one and group settings

▪ Role model and coach families on how to identify and access the supports they need

▪ Refer families to community resources

▪ Help families understand the mental health evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment process when applicable,

▪ Discuss options in an unbiased and culturally sensitive manner

▪ Explain processes, rights and responsibilities, and timelines for services

▪ Offer guidance with forms and paperwork

▪ Support the family’s role in the IEP process, if applicable

▪ Support transition, safety, and reentry planning

▪ Identify relevant benefits programs (e.g., Medicaid, SNAP); support enrollment as appropriate

▪ Develop relationships with community organizations

▪ Engage in community outreach and awareness events
