MUST HAVE VALID STATE OF MARYLAND SUBSTANCE ABUSE LICENSING
We are currently seeking a full-time substance abuse counselor for our new Drug and Alcohol program located in Baltimore (city), Maryland. This is a great opportunity for an experienced and/or creative clinician who wants to be involved in the development and on-going enhancement of the program as we grow. Our integrative approach combines evidence-based complementary therapies with traditional group and individual therapy to address client issues and provide a solid and personalized program of treatment and recovery. Candidate will receive supervision.
The counselor is responsible for performing client care activities as directed by the Clinical Director. He/she provides group and individual therapy sessions and creates the Master Treatment and Discharge Plan. The counselor maintains open lines of communication lines all program staff, clients and families and acts as a liaison with community agencies.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensing: ADT, CSC-AD, or CAC-AD
Ability to contribute to an Interdisciplinary Team approach
Substance Use and Co-Occurring Disorder
Preferred Experience in Chemical dependency/dual-diagnosis setting, preferably in a residential, partial hospitalization and/or outpatient facility.

Conduct substance abuse evaluations and general assessments
Provide unbiased emotional support for individuals throughout a treatment program
Conduct one-on-one, therapy sessions to get to the root of the addiction
Provide psycho-education
Facilitate process groups and group exercises
Administer periodic drug and alcohol tests
Develop a specialized plan for treatment based on individual needs and goals
Create an aftercare plan based on care available in your area
