The Department of Neurology is seeking a Research Laboratory Technician for the summer months in the Neuropathogenesis Lab, directed by Dr. Amanda M. Brown, PhD. The technician will receive scientific skills training and participate in lab procedures, meetings, and data collection aligned with multiple NIH-funded research projects currently underway, with guidance from lab PI, post-doctoral trainees, and more senior laboratory staff.Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Assist with a variety of experiments with established methodologies.

Assist in generating and analyzing data for grant submission and/or publication.

Prepare, clean, sterilize, store, and maintain laboratory equipment, glassware and instruments used in research experiments.

Monitor inventory levels and order material and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Prepare solutions, reagents, and stains following standard laboratory formulas and procedures.

Work collaboratively with research fellows, post-docs, medical students, and other laboratory personnel and is keen to troubleshoot.

Attend required weekly didactic research meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or graduation equivalent with some science coursework.

Preferred Qualifications

Current undergraduate student pursuing degree in biology, chemistry or related field.

Certificate from technical institute or internship experience preferred.

Experience in using micropipettes and sterile tissue culture techniques; working with various chemicals and familiar with safety compliance.

Experience with using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
