Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)Job DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. The LPN will provide essential nursing care within an outpatient methadone clinic, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and compliance with regulatory requirements. The role involves medication administration, patient treatment planning, health education, and maintaining meticulous records. Administer medication doses as ordered by program providers and account for them accurately.
Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating patients’ treatment plans, including reviewing substance use detection screenings as needed.
Initiate and maintain accurate records required for the dispensary, including daily nursing logs and take-home logs.
Maintain the medication dispensary filing system and provide information to counselors and authorized regulatory and compliance agencies as needed.
Record pertinent information into patient progress notes.
Monitor patients for visible signs of impairment and conduct substance use detection screenings as required.
Provide counseling on general health maintenance and health education specific to people with substance use disorders.
Check email routinely and respond to requests for information.
Conduct the Medical Orientation group as assigned.
Provide backup for Dosing Unit Lead responsibilities, including medication and supply ordering/receiving, maintaining medication logs, and assisting in training new staff.
Ensure compliance with federal regulations on privacy, confidentiality, and patient rights (42 C.F.R., Part 2, and HIPAA).
Attend and participate in weekly Treatment Team meetings and Treatment Team Interventions as assigned.
Attend monthly staff meetings as schedule allows.
Adhere to accepted ethical and behavioral standards of conduct and attend training and formal education as needed to maintain and/or advance credentialing or develop job skills.
Perform all duties and tasks in a timely manner to meet the needs of the department and/or patients.
Follow all program/departmental policies and procedures, including attendance, safety, and infection control policies.
Understand safety and security protocols and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
Maintain a neat and professional work environment and exercise care in the use of facilities, equipment, and materials.
Interact with staff, patients, and other business contacts in an appropriate and professional manner.
Essential Skills
Comprehensive knowledge of substance use disorder treatment modalities.
Knowledge of techniques of daily patient care and administering treatments and medications.
Knowledge of federal, state, local, and agency regulations governing human subject research, confidentiality, and medication-assisted treatment delivery.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with knowledge of medical terminology related to substance abuse and dependence.
Ability to provide medical training, guidance, and oversight to nursing staff.
Ability to carry out duties with minimal supervision.
Ability to develop and maintain effective and ethical therapeutic relationships.
Ability to recognize signs of patient impairment and conduct substance use detection screenings.
Ability to carry out emergency and routine procedures for safety.
Ability to accurately document information and complete written and electronic reports and medical records.
Knowledge of computers and word processing and data processing software.
Ability to work with a culturally diverse population
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in managed care, ambulatory care, or outpatient settings.
Experience with Methasoft software.
RN license or LPN certification.
