Job Title: Electrical EngineerJob DescriptionWe are seeking Electrical Engineers specializing in Power Electronics Hardware Design. As a Power Electronics Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and testing SiC based power electronic converter topologies, including active rectifiers, isolated DC-DC converters, solid-state transformers, and high-speed motor drives. You will also design and test DSP based digital control algorithms, FPGA supported modulators, and PLC based high-level system controllers. Additionally, you will be involved in detailed PCB designs, including SiC gate drivers, system control PCBs, and support hardware, as well as designing and testing medium voltage (3.3 – 10 kV) SiC semiconductor modules.Responsibilities

Design and test SiC based power electronic converter topologies including active rectifiers, isolated DC-DC converters, solid-state-transformers, and high-speed motor drives.

Design and test DSP based digital control algorithms, FPGA supported modulators, and PLC based high-level system controllers.

Create detailed PCB designs including SiC gate drivers, system control PCBs, and support hardware.

Design and test medium voltage (3.3 – 10 kV) SiC semiconductor modules.

Work on medium voltage power distribution, solid-state transformers, surge protection, and medium voltage isolation requirements.

Essential Skills

BS in Electrical Engineering required; MS and PhDs a plus.

All experience levels considered – entry level to senior principal engineers.

Experience programming various microcontrollers and DSPs is a plus.

Experience designing motor drives, AC-DC, and DC-AC converters.

United States Citizenship required due to US Government ITAR program restrictions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with high power SiC and Silicon power device design into converters/inverters.

Knowledge of EMI/EMC MIL 461 Compliance and other MIL spec design requirements.

Experience with multiple parallel/series connected bi-directional galvanically isolated AC/DC, DC/DC converters.

Familiarity with 13.8 kV and 4160V grid interface power converters.

Experience with MV isolated DC-DC converters.

Ability to design 50KW to 500KW converters/inverters that can be linked together for higher power levels in MWs.

Work EnvironmentOur client is located in an Office Space / R&D/ Manufacturing, Lab space right outside of Baltimore City (Halethorpe, MD).
