Description We are offering a short-term contract employment opportunity for a Customer Service Representative in Baltimore, Maryland. This role is in the transportation industry where the selected candidate will be the first point of contact for customers dealing with vehicle impoundment issues. The workplace environment is dynamic and fast-paced, and the chosen candidate will be required to address and resolve customer complaints and inquiries effectively.Responsibilities: Respond to customer inquiries via phone and in-person regarding vehicle impoundment issues, providing necessary information to facilitate and expedite the return, auction, or disposal of the vehicle. Guide customers through required procedures and document completion to release or sign over vehicles to the city for auction or disposal. Review official forms such as police reports, towing receipts, and inventory control forms for accurate data related to vehicle impoundment. Verify customer documents such as vehicle registration, driver’s license, and insurance coverage for validity and authenticity. Determine the necessary documentation and procedures to authorize the release, auction, or disposal of vehicles based on specific vehicle impoundment circumstances. Retrieve information from the Department of Motor Vehicle database to identify any liens on the vehicle or outstanding parking or moving violation tickets. Schedule administrative hearings required to resolve disputes regarding impounded vehicles. Use problem resolution skills to handle customer complaints and inquiries. Perform data entry tasks to maintain accurate customer records. Assist customers in understanding the implications of impoundment policies such as daily impoundment fees and restraints on renewing or obtaining vehicle tags and registration due to outstanding impoundment fees. Requirements Role requires no specific years of prior experience Ability to assist customers in a professional and courteous manner Proficiency in data entry tasks Demonstrated skills in problem resolution Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work well in a team-focused environment Strong multitasking abilities High level of patience and empathy towards customer concerns Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays High School diploma or equivalent qualification is desirable Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
